Superintendent Brian Christopherson

My name is Brian Christopherson and I am proud to be the Superintendent of New Salem-Almont schools.  Going into my second year as a Holstein, we have a lot of exciting things taking place in our school district:

  • NS-A is going through a 7.65 million dollar referendum process which would provide a safer and more secure elementary entrance along with some more classroom space and add a new CTE center and classrooms to the high school.
    • The election will be held on Tuesday, October 1 at the New Salem-Almont high school and the Almont Memorial Hall.
  • We were awarded a $10,000 grant from Monsanto to use towards technology in Prairie View Elementary school.
    • This year, all students in grade 4 and 5 will have an iPad to use; this grant now allows us to add another grade level in our goal of a 1:1 elementary.
    • To ensure students have solid internet connections, we have rewired much of PVE with a matching grant from the federal government.
  • Finally, the big change at the high school level was revamping the class schedule to allow for another class period.
    • This allows for more intervention time as well as adding electives and additional time in the area of reading and math.
