Our 5th graders have officially finished the D.A.R.E. program with Officer Tommy, and we are so proud of all they have learned over the past several weeks. Students worked hard through each lesson, practicing skills for making safe, responsible choices and building confidence. We ended the program with a fun pizza party celebration! Congratulations to Reid and Melanie, our D.A.R.E. essay winners, and to Macy and Mayzee, our participation winners. Thank you to Officer Tommy for a great experience and to our students for their effort and enthusiasm throughout the program. A special thank you to Ruds for providing the awesome pizza to help us celebrate! 🍕

7th grade students recently had a special opportunity to visit the kindergarten classroom and work together on a fun science activity called elephant toothpaste. The older students helped the kindergarteners safely mix the ingredients and watched with excitement as the foamy reaction quickly overflowed like toothpaste for an elephant. It was a great hands-on learning experience for both groups, and the kindergarteners loved having the 7th graders as helpers and role models. This activity encouraged teamwork, curiosity, and excitement about science across grade levels.

The students from both STEM (7th/8th grade science) and kindergarten get together every two weeks for collaboration. Last Friday, they created elephant toothpaste together! It was an explosion of fun!

Happy February from PVE!

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with questions and feedback regarding the Mean Girls Jr. production. This musical is an extracurricular activity, meaning participation is optional—just like our other school activities. Any middle school student who chooses to participate will be required to submit a signed permission slip.
We also recognize the importance of ensuring that the message of this production is clearly understood and thoughtfully discussed with students. When guided appropriately, this musical provides a valuable opportunity to talk about kindness, standing up for yourself and others, and understanding that actions have consequences.
Looking in the future, we will ensure our musical productions are opportunities for K-12 students to support our performers and engage with the themes of each show.

5th-grade students recently completed a fun and creative figurative language project to help them better understand similes, metaphors, personification, and onomatopoeia. They worked hard to find examples in books, songs, and everyday life, then used their imagination to create original figurative language. Through writing, drawing, and sharing their work with classmates, students showed how figurative language makes stories more vivid and interesting. This project was a great way for students to practice deeper reading skills while expressing their creativity.

Today the first graders had a Super Bowl party! They got snacks and did many fun activities in reading and math that had to do with the Super Bowl!
