PVE is participating in Penny Wars to raise money to purchase and replace some of our playground equipment! Grade levels will compete against each other to raise the most amount by December 20th. The winning grade will be announced in January when we return from break. The winning grade will get a pizza party to celebrate!
There is no Junior Varsity football game tonight against Richardton/Taylor. The JH game will begin at 5p.m.
The JH Volleyball games tonight at Elgin have been canceled. No makeup date has been decided.
The New Salem-Almont Student of the Month award is given every month to students that demonstrate characteristics such as respect, integrity, discipline, positivity effort, leadership, and citizenship.

A big thank you to the New Salem Lions Club for hosting the Gateway to Science STEMzone event for New Salem-Almont Public Schools, offering an interactive, hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) experience for grades 2-7, impacting approximately 240 students.
This exciting event aims to promote STEM education and create meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills in young students. It features ten engaging stations designed to spark curiosity and inspire a passion for STEM fields. Each station focuses on different aspects of science and technology, providing a unique opportunity for students to explore, learn, and engage with real-world applications of STEM concepts.
3rd grade is utilizing the produce not sold at their farmers market to practice both math and science skills today! They are making spaghetti sauce, zucchini chips, squash, salsa, applesauce, and apple cider! They are following a recipe utilizing their fraction skills from math, along with measuring and convection skills from science! There is a lot learning happening in here today!
Due to lack of junior varsity players at Napoleon, the JV game on Monday (9/23) at Napoleon will be cancelled.
The junior high game will be played as scheduled, with a kickoff time of 4:30 central time.
The JH Volleyball match for tonight in Hebron will begin at 5:30 p.m. CST.
New Salem-Almont will be using air quality numbers, through airnow.gov, that will provide a clear way to communicate whether we need to modify or cancel outside activities. If the air quality is above 150, then outdoor activities will be modified, once the number reaches 180, outside activities will be cancelled.
Monday the 16th and Wednesday the 18th our 3rd grade Farmer's Market will be at DFC from 3:30-4:30! Please come and purchase some produce!

Strategic Planning Committee Members Wanted: New Salem-Almont is bringing in a consultant to help our school redefine our strategic plan which will update and outline our district's long-term goals and the actions needed to achieve them. This roadmap will guide us with our decision-making, resource allocation, and how to measure progress over time on the areas of importance we should focus on the most. We want this committee to be comprised of all stakeholders, if you are a parent or community member interested in being a part of this important educational process, please fill out the survey. New Salem-Almont Public School is always looking for more classroom substitute teachers or individuals who would like to work as paraprofessionals in the elementary and/or high school. If you are interested in working with children, please reach out to either Sherri (843-7711) at the elementary school or Kayla at the high school (843-7610). We pay $140.00/day along with a free school lunch.
To sub as an aid, the minimum requirement is a high school diploma. In order to sub for a teacher, information is available at ESPB. The school district will reimburse you once you have been certified as a substitute and have worked in the building for three or more days.
