The North Dakota CTE Scholarship is worth up to $6,000 to seniors who meet all the requirements and plan to attend a North Dakota college. Right now, we have 19 seniors who can qualify for this scholarship IF they meet a certain score on the three WorkKeys tests. I met with the seniors and gave them the information needed to review for the tests and they know that they can schedule the tests in the Superintendent's office. To ensure that the District is held accountable to parents and the community of New Salem-Almont, the NSA complaint policy and form has been placed on the school's website, under Parent Info. The procedure is in place to ensure that all complaints are handled fairly and consistently. Prior to filing the form, proper procedure is to communicate with the individual(s) that you have a complaint with. If you feel the feedback received is not satisfactory, then a complaint form should be filed with the Superintendent. If the complaint is concerning the Superintendent or Business Manager, the complaint form should be filed with the School Board President. Please contact the school with any questions.

NSA Families Please Read: In recent weeks we have noticed the topic of the Squid Games trending among some students in school and on the playground. This series is on Netflix and is about a number of popular Korean children’s games that are transformed into often fatal trials of intelligence, strength, luck or endurance. Hundreds of competitors, most struggling financially, risk all for a massive cash prize. Losers are usually killed or die in a horrific matter. Squid Game is also being viewed via other platforms such as YouTube and TikTok, and given the popularity of the games in the show, developers have made various mini-games based on Squid Game on Roblox and other gaming platforms. “Parents need to know that the level of violence is very intense in Squid Game. Characters are systematically tortured and killed for the sadistic pleasure of a game master. Adults have sex, and there are threats of sexual violence: Women are grabbed by the hair and beaten. Themes concerning the highs one gets from gambling, winning, or conning money are a main focus.” – Common Sense Media We suggest parents remain aware of what their children are watching, both on streaming TV and through social media. This is particularly relevant as Squid Game is trending high in popularity as the content is not suitable for primary-aged children. Below is the link to the full Common-Sense Media review for parents. https://www.commonsensemedia.org/tv-reviews/squid-game
